FAQ
What DNS record types do you monitor?
A, AAAA, MX, TXT (SPF, DKIM), NS, CNAME, SOA, CAA, SRV, PTR, and full DNSSEC chain validation including DS, DNSKEY, and RRSIG records.
Can I self-host DNS Assistant?
Not Yet, but we're working on an implementation soon.
How granular are the change alerts?
Very. If one TXT record is added and another removed, you see two distinct changes. Each value-level change is labeled as added, removed, or modified.
What notification channels are supported?
Email, Slack, Microsoft Teams, SMS, and custom webhooks. Configurable per-organization with user-level overrides.
Is there an API?
Yes. Full REST API with scoped API keys for integration into CI/CD pipelines, SIEM tools, or custom automation workflows.
How does multi-tenancy work?
Org Admins manage their organization, Team Admins manage their team, and users see only assigned domains. Full RBAC with audit logging.
What are DNS Tokens and WHOIS Tokens?
DNS Tokens are used to perform DNS Checks, 1 token is used per check unless specified. WHOIS Tokens are used to perform WHOIS checks using 3rd party WHOIS providers, 1 token is used per WHOIS lookup unless specified. Each subscription level is given a predetermined amount of tokens, once they are depleted you must buy tokens to continue to update DNS and WHOIS data.
