About
Munen — screen time that learns from yesterday Munen is a screen-time app for iPhone that changes how it meets you tomorrow, based on how today actually went. Each night, Munen looks at your on-device screen-time signals — app switching, late-night scrolling, long sessions, and more — and places your day into one of five zones. That zone sets tomorrow's friction. A rough day means a firmer pause before a distracting app opens. A good day means less friction. The adjustment happens the next morning, never in the middle of a slip. Nothing is blocked by default. Munen gives you a moment to choose, not a wall to fight. Why tomorrow, not the moment? Because punishment in the middle of a bad habit is easy to resent — and easy to work around. Munen doesn't suddenly make itself harder when you're already scrolling. Instead, it looks at the whole day and adjusts the next one. You always know why. Your zone is visible. Your score is transparent. There's no black box deciding you were "bad." Yesterday happened. Tomorrow adapts. Your reason. At the moment you need it. During setup, you write your own reason for wanting less screen time and choose what you'd rather be doing instead. When a distracting app is about to open, Munen shows your words back to you. Not a generic warning. Not a lecture. Yours. Free supports up to 3 apps. Premium removes the limit and lets you choose how firm your friction can become. Don't just stop. See what you kept. Continue past a shield and Munen gives you a breather. If you come back before it ends, those minutes become reclaimed time — a running total of the time you chose to keep instead of giving to the scroll. It's a visible record of small decisions going your way. A coach that knows your week. Munen's AI Coach isn't a generic chatbot. It can use your metrics, zone history, and how your week actually went to give you context-aware responses. Free includes 3 messages and 1 journal analysis per week. Premium raises those limits and adds a weekly journal reflection: what you handled → one pattern it noticed → one thing to try next week. SOS when the urge hits. When you feel the pull to open something you know you shouldn't, Munen gives you an immediate written way through it. No account. No waiting. No upsell in the way. Premium can make the response personal to your trigger and your current zone. You still have the final word. Your zone is yours to adjust — once a day on Free, every four hours on Premium. Nothing is blocked unless you choose it. That can mean starting a focus session yourself, or signing a hard-day contract while you're calm — the one setting that can close the escape hatch completely on your worst days. You decide the rules. Munen helps you keep the promise. Free core. Built by one person. Munen is an independent app, built by one person and launched on the App Store in August.

Founder story
I tried a few blockers before building this, and every one of them lasted about three days. Not because they were broken, but because a wall you built yourself is a wall you already know how to walk around. So the bet with Munen is different: friction adjusts to the next morning, not in the moment. Every night it scores how the day actually went, on the phone, and starts the next day with a slightly different pause before the apps you flagged. A bad Tuesday makes Wednesday a bit slower, a good week loosens things up. Never more than one step per day, and you can always see why. The whole idea is that yesterday should count for something, but it shouldn't punish you while you're still in the middle of it.
