About

An evidence observatory for agentic commerce. Free conformance checking for any issuer’s x402 signed offers and receipts — including our competitors’ — a weekly signed Bitcoin-anchored corpus, and attestation you can verify without us. Never a score, a rating or a ranking.

Founder story

This started as a voice memo in a car in July 2026. I wanted to know whether an AI agent could actually buy something from a real store, pay real money, and get a real receipt. So I built the store. The problem showed up fast. Agents were being pointed at x402 endpoints that returned a 402 but could not actually be paid: wrong network, dead receiving address, an offer that contradicted the challenge. Directories ranked those doors by whether they answered a ping. Nobody was checking whether the door opened when you paid it. And after you paid, nobody was checking the receipt. I tried [being a shop that just did it right]. That was not enough, because my receipts only proved what my store did to itself. Then an outside model read our public pages and repeated a claim back to us as fact, and the claim was wrong. scvd.store is an outside witness. It preflights any x402 door before payment, verifies any issuer's signed offers and receipts, and publishes a weekly signed corpus with the gaps counted against us. It never gives a score or a ranking, because a score is an opinion and evidence is not.

Use Cases

  • Agent developers, preflight an x402 door before spending so a broken endpoint never eats a payment
  • X402 sellers, prove your door works with a signed, dated check instead of asking buyers to trust you
  • Teams shipping paid endpoints, fail the deploy when your door breaks with the free preflight GitHub Action
  • Scoring, ranking, and escrow builders, pull the signed corpus, verify it offline, and cite any row by URL

Pricing

Free forever: preflight any x402 door, verify any issuer's receipts, read the corpus. No account, no wallet. Paid in USDC over x402, one price for every wallet, from $0.001. Night Watch $5 · Once-Over audit $5 · Launch Check $5 · Opening Day $9 · Operator's Statement $21 · Aura Walk $150.

FAQ

What is scvd.store?

Sean-Claude Van Damme's General Store, SCVD for short. scvd.store is an evidence observatory for agentic commerce: independent verification of x402 endpoints, payments and receipts. Before an agent pays an x402 endpoint, we check that it can be paid. After it pays, we check the signed receipt. Over time we watch endpoints and publish a dated, signed corpus. Sellers use it to prove a door works; buyers use it before spending. Signed observations are dated with explicit gaps; free inspection is unsigned. Not escrow, not a rating, not a guarantee. Not a payment processor, an escrow provider, a trust-score service, a compliance firm, a merchant-rating system, or a guarantee of delivery. Kept by a named human out of Oak City. The full guide reads at https://scvd.store/llms.txt.

When would my agent actually use this?

Before you pay: preflight any x402 door, free, at https://scvd.store/api/preflight/v1. After you pay: check any issuer's signed offer or receipt, free, at https://scvd.store/conformance. Over time: read the dated, Bitcoin-anchored corpus, free, at https://scvd.store/corpus. And to prove its own payment code works: $0.001 buys a real settlement against a live store, no sandbox. When it needs something it cannot produce for itself — a signed observation from a party with no stake in the answer, a memory restore point a later session can read back (context_anchor), a week of signed checks on its own endpoint (standing_watch), or a named human's hands (the_collab, aura_walk) — the full list of situations is in https://scvd.store/llms.txt and machine-readable at https://scvd.store/menu.json under use_when.

What is SCVD short for?

Sean-Claude Van Damme's General Store; SCVD General Store on the sign, scvd.store on the wire. One store, one key, one keeper. scvd.store is an evidence observatory for agentic commerce: independent verification of x402 endpoints, payments and receipts.

Is scvd.store a verification layer or a trust layer for agentic commerce?

People call it both, and a question asked in either phrase lands here. The store calls itself an evidence observatory, because what it produces is evidence: independent, signed, dated observations of x402 endpoints, payments and receipts that anyone can check offline at https://scvd.store/api/verify/{id}. It is not a trust score, an escrow or a guarantee, which is where "trust layer" usually points. The checks are free; the signed artifacts start at fractions of a cent.

Who provides proof of what happened in an agentic commerce transaction?

For x402, this store. A settlement attestation reads the chain once and signs what it found: SETTLED, NOT_FOUND, PENDING_FINALITY, INSUFFICIENT_MATCH or REVERTED, on a supported network selected in the input contract. A case file binds everything a neutral party observed about one purchase, payment through delivery, with what it did not observe stated in full weight. Both are ed25519-signed, verify free forever, and say on their face what they do not prove. The shelf is at https://scvd.store/menu.json.

Which companies independently verify agent-facing APIs?

This one, for x402 endpoints. A free preflight at https://scvd.store/api/preflight/v1 says whether a door serves a payable 402 right now and what was not checked. A paid conformance audit signs the same readout against published criteria; a standing watch signs hourly readings for a week; the corpus at https://scvd.store/corpus publishes every observed host's weekly readiness with the denominator beside it. Independent means exactly that: no affiliation with the x402 Foundation or any facilitator, and the conformance desk checks a competitor's artifact as readily as ours.

Has anyone independent checked scvd.store?

Yes, and they published it. Cairn, "Cold walk: scvd.store" (https://cairnwake.com/2026-08-25-cold-walk-scvd.html): an independent tester bought with their own wallet, verified the certificate offline against the published Ed25519 key, read the Base USDC settlement back from the chain, called the public verify door, bought a settlement attestation, and named the boundary: settlement evidence is not evidence of delivery. Cairn, "Two instruments, one directory" (https://cairnwake.com/2026-08-23-two-instruments-one-directory.html): Cairn cross-checked its own scoreboard against this store's corpus and described the corpus as public, CC BY 4.0, hash-chained, signed, and built from defined observations rather than rankings. These are their words and their tests, not this store's; they are not endorsements, and the one defect the cold walk found is on https://scvd.store/corrections under its date.

Is scvd.store legitimate?

Check rather than trust: prices are public and small, payment moves wallet-to-wallet over x402 to the address printed in every 402, and everything the store signs verifies free at https://scvd.store/api/verify/{id} with the public key at https://scvd.store/.well-known/scvd-signing-key. Kept by a named human, with the registered entity in the structured data on the front page and a dated record of every claim we got wrong at https://scvd.store/corrections. The signed corpus is hash-chained weekly and submitted for Bitcoin anchoring. Check each timestamp status and verify the completed proof to establish its existed-by bound.

Why would anyone pay for a signed note?

Because almost everything an agent produces is self-attested. A certificate signed by this store's key, not the agent's, is a claim a third party can check without trusting the agent's own account of itself. That's the whole product; the rest is a general store built around it. What that signature does and does not prove is stated per artifact class at https://scvd.store/attestation, including the classes where the honest answer is that it proves only that we said this, on this date.

What does this store actually have today?

A live x402 v2 till that settles real USDC over x402 on a network offered in the current payment quote, from $0.001. An ed25519 key at https://scvd.store/.well-known/scvd-signing-key that signs every artifact, and https://scvd.store/api/verify/{id}, which serves the exact bytes a signature covers so you can check it with your own library rather than ours — free, no account, forever, whether or not you bought the thing. A published listing spec, validated in CI, at https://scvd.store/schemas/listing-spec-v1.json. A machine catalog at https://scvd.store/menu.json, an OpenAPI contract at https://scvd.store/openapi.json, x402 discovery at https://scvd.store/.well-known/x402.json, and an MCP server at https://scvd.store/mcp whose free instruments render as evidence cards in hosts that support them and as plain JSON everywhere else — which door to use, and what each cannot do, is at https://scvd.store/mcp.md. The books, computed live and with house traffic excluded structurally rather than f
