FAQ
Is this real?
It started as brandmymac.com — one MacBook, twenty sticker spots on the lid, inside and accessories, $9,307 raised against a $4,263 machine, goal passed 218%. This site is that turned into a marketplace: anyone puts their own lid up, brands buy the spots on it, and the listing, the payment and the logo review are handled here.
What does buying a spot actually get me?
Your brand on one named creator's laptop, in the world: A die-cut vinyl sticker of your logo on their lid, at the printed size the spot shows — everywhere that laptop goes, your brand is visible A listing on that lid's page with a link to your site It stays on for the number of months the listing shows, counted from the day the creator approves your logo Nobody promises impressions or clicks — a sticker is presence, not performance, and it is a paid placement, not an endorsement in either direction.
How does paying work?
Most spots have one price and you pay it in full, by card, through Stripe. Your card is held, not charged, until the creator approves your logo; several brands can hold the same spot, and it goes to the one the creator approves. Some lids are auctions: you bid, your card is held for the bid, and at the close the highest bid the creator approved is charged and takes the spot. Outbid or not approved, the hold is released. A spot is charged in the currency its creator prices in: euros, dollars or pounds. The price on the buy button is the one your card is held for. A figure shown in your own currency beside it is an approximate conversion, and your bank sets the rate if the two differ.
Who is actually taking my money?
The creator. The payment goes straight into their own Stripe account, and Stripe takes BrandMyLaptop's 10% commission as it passes (15% on a lid sold by auction). The platform never holds it. That means the sale is between you and them: we run the listing, check it is not obviously fraudulent, and can pull it — but we cannot refund you out of money we never had. It is a real trade-off, so it is worth saying plainly: you are relying on a seller whose account, prices and proof photo are all in front of you before you pay.
What if my logo is refused?
Nothing is charged. Your card is only authorised when you buy, and the charge goes through only if the seller says yes — a refusal releases the hold and nothing is printed. The seller approves every logo by hand before it appears: it is their laptop, and they keep the final say over what it carries. The platform can also refuse or remove one on its own.
What if the sticker never appears?
On a laptop they already own, the creator has 14 days from approving your logo to put it on and post the photo on their listing. Past that you are entitled to ask them for your money back, and they owe it. On a lid still being funded, it goes on once the machine has been bought and delivered. Tell us as well. We will contact them, and we can remove their listing and refuse them the platform — a missed deadline is a dated breach, so it is checkable rather than arguable. That is the leverage we have and we will use it. What we cannot do is pay you back ourselves, because the money went to them and not to us. A card payment also leaves you whatever your bank offers.
How long does the creator have to answer?
Six days from your checkout. If they have not approved your logo by then, the hold on your card is released and nothing is charged. On an auction, your bid is held until the bidding closes instead.
How do I get an invoice?
From the creator. They are the merchant for the sale, so the invoice is theirs to issue, from their own Stripe account. The company name, address and VAT number you give at Checkout are what it is addressed to. When your card is charged, Stripe also emails you a receipt in the creator's name.
Can I keep my spot after the term?
About three weeks before your term ends, we email you to ask. Reply if you want the next term, and we arrange it with the creator. Nothing renews on its own and nothing is charged until you say so.
What logo file prints well?
PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG, up to 2 MB. A PNG on a transparent background, at least 1,024 pixels on its longest side, is the safest choice: that is the size it is kept at. An SVG is turned into a PNG when you upload it. If your logo already includes your brand name, tick the box that says so and it is printed on its own. Otherwise your name is set beside it.
