For builders who want local multi-agent chat: TecAdRise Bot is a free open-source Electron desktop app (Cursor SDK) - an alternative to Grok Bot that runs on your machine.
About
TecAdRiseBot is a free, open source alternative to Grok Bot that runs locally on Windows 10/11. Built on the Cursor SDK, it lets you create teams of independent agents with shared memory, inter-agent communication, and configurable MCP servers. Agents can update their own configuration, run scheduled tasks, and persist facts across conversations in a wiki-style vault.
Use Cases
- Running a local multi-agent chat team on your own Windows machine, with each agent having its own model, memory, and routines
- Building and testing scheduled agent routines (loop, interval, daily, weekly, once, or cron) that run locally
- Customizing an open source Grok Bot alternative by inspecting and modifying its source code under the MIT license
Who it is for
- Builders who want local multi-agent chat on their own desktop
- Developers who want to inspect, modify, and self-host an MIT-licensed agent desktop app
- Teams that prefer to run agents locally with their own Cursor API key
Pricing
TecAdRise Bot is free to use. See the website for details.
FAQ
What is TecAdRiseBot?
TecAdRiseBot is a free open source Grok Bot alternative: a local multi-agent desktop for Windows. Electron, React, TypeScript, and the Cursor SDK. Each agent has its own model, Soul, MCP, and routines. It is not an official Grok or xAI product.
Is TecAdRiseBot free?
The software is free and open source under the MIT license. Cursor still bills whatever API key you paste in. The in-app usage table is a local token log, not an invoice.
Is TecAdRiseBot an open source Grok Bot alternative?
Yes. People looking for a Grok Bot alternative or an open source Grok Bot can run TecAdRiseBot locally. It is independent software, MIT licensed, not affiliated with Grok, xAI, or Cursor as a product. Agents run through the Cursor SDK on your PC.
What do I need to run it?
Node.js 22.13 or newer, npm 10+, and Windows 10 or 11. You also need a Cursor API key from the Cursor Dashboard. Playwright MCP needs Node and npx on PATH. Mac support may come later.
How do agents share memory?
A wiki-style vault (index.md, notes/, log.md) plus a memory-management skill lets agents save lasting facts. Other agents on the same host can reuse those notes on later turns.
Can I control agents from outside the app?
Yes. External agent control uses a localhost HTTP API on 127.0.0.1:8787 (override with TECADRISE_API_PORT). You can list agents, post messages, and PATCH config. The control plane binds 127.0.0.1 only and has no auth.
Can agents talk to each other and change their own config?
Yes. Inter-agent communication stores both sides of inter-bot messages. Agents are self-aware: they get a live snapshot of their own config, peers, and routines, and they may PATCH themselves. That is the self-healing loop.
