Built for job seekers tailoring resumes: scores your resume, matches it to a job post, tracks applications, and rehearses interviews with an AI coach.
About
Qualified, but getting ghosted? Recruiters skim a resume in seconds and skip anything without matched keywords or hard results. ATSPrep is a free resume studio that shows you why. Upload your resume and see what an applicant tracking system actually reads from your file, with a score and a note on every line that needs work: what is wrong and how to fix it. Paste a job post to see which of its keywords your resume already shows and which are missing, then rewrite your own lines in its wording without inventing anything. Track your applications with next steps and due dates, write a cover letter, and practise the interview out loud with Pip, a voice coach that asks follow-up questions on weak spots.
The free plan never expires: your ATS score, every fix, job match, 5 AI edits a day and PDF downloads, with no credits and no watermark. Pro ($5/month, or $24 once for 6 months) adds 300 AI edits a day, Fix all, AI tailoring, Word downloads and all templates.
ATSPrep also runs a free MCP server (atsprep.com/mcp) so you can use the same checks inside Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor.
Key Features
- Scores your resume and pins each weak line with a written fix
- Checks your resume against a job post and lists missing keywords
- Shows the plain text an ATS parser reads from your PDF via X-Ray
- Tracks applications from Saved to Closed, with a next step for each
- Runs timed mock interviews with the Pip AI coach and gives a report
Use Cases
- Checking how an applicant tracking system will parse a resume PDF before submitting it to a company's hiring portal
- Tailoring one resume to a specific job post and seeing which required terms are still missing
- Rehearsing answers for a specific job interview with an AI interviewer before the real call
From the founder
Who it's for
“Job seekers, students and career changers who send out applications and hear nothing back. ATSPrep shows what an applicant tracking system reads from their resume, which lines are weak and which keywords a job post wants that they are missing.”
Why I built it
“I am Abubakar, a solo builder. Most resume checkers give you a score and stop, or hide the fixes behind a paywall. I wanted one that shows exactly what a parser reads and tells you how to fix each line, with the core free for good: no credits, no watermark, no card.”
Who it is for
- Job seekers sending resumes through applicant tracking systems
- Candidates preparing for a specific job interview
- Job seekers managing a list of applications and their next steps
Pricing
Free plan forever; Pro $5/month or $24 for 6 months
FAQ
Does this show what every ATS will read?
X-Ray shows the text ATSPrep's PDF extractor recovers from your finished file, so you can catch missing text and reading-order problems before you send it. It is ATSPrep's own extractor rather than Workday, Greenhouse, or another vendor ATS.
Is ATSPrep really free?
Yes, there is a free plan that never expires: importing, editing, your ATS score with every fix, job match, PDF downloads in Clean, Signal, Editorial and Minimal, 5 AI edits a day and application tracking. No card and no watermark. Sign in with Google, free, to download and save. ATSPrep Pro ($5 a month, or $24 for 6 months) adds more AI edits, Fix all with AI, AI tailoring, Word downloads and all templates.
Can I keep track of applications and resume versions?
Yes. Save up to 20 named resume versions in Studio and track up to 300 applications. Keep reusable achievements, map requirements to evidence, and explicitly record the saved resume content you submitted. Historical copies remain unchanged when you edit or delete their source versions. Workspace backups include documents; restore keeps them in a workspace archive without replacing your Studio draft. Sign in free if you want them synced across devices; there is no automatic application submission or email reminder.
Can ATSPrep match my resume to a job description?
Yes. Paste a posting to see your job fit, each requirement met or missing, and the resume line behind every match. It reads for meaning by default, so a requirement said in other words still counts; switch to word for word anytime. Job fit is a guide to tailoring, not a hiring probability.
Does my resume get uploaded to a server?
No. Your resume file is never uploaded: it opens in your browser, and Review scoring, X-Ray checks and PDF generation run there. To sort it into its parts and suggest fixes, its text, without your name or contact details, goes to our AI, which keeps nothing. An AI edit sends only the lines it works on. By default, when you add a job in the Studio, matching by meaning sends your resume's content lines and the posting's requirement lines once per version (you can switch it off); your name, email, phone, address and links are excluded, and nothing is stored.
What file types can I upload to check my resume?
PDF, DOCX, TXT and Markdown. You can also paste plain text straight in. ATSPrep reads the file, extracts the content, and maps it into editable fields so you can fix problems rather than just being scored on them.
