Todowing

About

Todoist flattens sub-tasks in date and filter views, but the hierarchy already exists in the account, so this Chrome extension injects the indented rows back where they belong. Each sub-task keeps its own due date, priority and labels, and can be checked off, renamed or dragged into order directly in the list. Beyond nesting, it adds a focus card that counts down across open tabs, per-task time estimates that total in Todoist's header, a notes pad, and font, size and colour themes, with an optional Apple Calendar feed shown in Today.

Key Features

  • Show sub-task trees nested inline in Today, Upcoming, and filter views
  • Check off, rename, and reorder sub-tasks without opening the parent task
  • Start focus sessions on picked tasks with a countdown card across tabs
  • Restyle Todoist with seven palettes, Google Fonts, and a text-size slider
  • Display Apple Calendar events above your Today tasks

Use Cases

  • Checking off and reordering sub-tasks inline in Todoist's Today view without opening each task
  • Seeing nested sub-task trees under parent tasks in Upcoming and filter views where Todoist flattens them
  • Running a focus timer on selected Today tasks and their sub-tasks while working across browser tabs

Who it is for

  • Todoist power users who lose nested work because sub-tasks are hidden.
  • Todoist users who want a customised Todoist look and workflow.

Pricing

One-time payment of 19.99 unlocks everything, with no subscription and a free tier included. The free tier includes nesting features, seven palettes, text-size scaling and 5 sub-task rows per top-level task.

FAQ

Is this a subscription? +

No. You pay 19.99 once and get a license key that unlocks the extension forever. There is nothing to renew or cancel.

What does the free tier include? +

Every nesting feature (inline nesting, completing, collapsing, recurring resets) with each row's full detail, plus the seven palettes and the text-size slider, limited to 5 sub-task rows per top-level task. The unlock removes the limit and opens editing rows, focus sessions with time estimates, one task in two places, the font picker, the hide-done toggle, the notes pad, and your Apple Calendar on Today.

Do future upgrades cost extra? +

No. New upgrades land in this same extension, and the unlock you already bought covers every paid one.

Which views does it work in? +

Today, Upcoming, and any Filter or Label view — the places Todoist renders tasks flat. Plus every board, anywhere in Todoist, including your projects' boards. A project's list view already nests on its own, so Todowing leaves it alone.

Can I see my Apple Calendar in Todoist? +

Yes, though not by signing in — Todoist connects to Google Calendar and Outlook, but not to Apple. You publish a calendar from Apple Calendar and paste the link into Todowing, and the day's events appear on Today beside your tasks. Todowing only ever reads it: nothing you do in Todoist changes your calendar. Part of the unlock, and it takes about a minute — here are the four steps .

What if your license server goes down? +

You stay unlocked. Validation fails open: only an explicit "revoked" answer from the server locks a key. An outage or an offline day changes nothing.

Do I need Todoist Pro? +

No. Todowing works with any Todoist plan in the Todoist web app on Chrome.

Does it work in the Todoist desktop app? +

Not the app you download from Todoist. Chrome extensions can't run inside it. Install Todoist as its own Chrome window instead: open Todoist, then pick the three-dot menu → Cast, save, and share → Install page as app ( Chrome's own steps ). Todowing works in that window the way it works in a tab. Its settings live in the toolbar popup, and an app window has no toolbar, so save your token and pick your fonts in a normal Todoist tab first. Both carry over.
