nonolingo

About

nonolingo runs from the Mac menu bar and reads the text box you are typing in through the macOS accessibility layer, so it works across apps like Slack, Gmail, and WhatsApp. Each suggestion gives a grammar fix that keeps your sentence and a second native rewrite you can take or leave. You can also write in your own language and get natural English back, or translate a selected message.

Key Features

  • Delivers corrects grammar, tense, and articles while keeping your original sentence
  • Offers a second native rewrite that sounds like a person, not a translation
  • Delivers suggests four replies to any selected message that you can send as-is
  • Translates selected messages and writes replies from Vietnamese, Korean, Spanish, and more
  • Delivers saves reusable snippets you can trigger by typing a /shortcut in any app
  • Delivers reads any text box through the macOS accessibility layer across apps

Use Cases

  • Fixing grammar and tone of a work message in Slack or Gmail before pressing send, without copying text to another app
  • Getting a more native-sounding rewrite of a casual English reply in WhatsApp, Telegram, or LinkedIn
  • Writing a message in another language such as Vietnamese or Spanish and having it come out as natural English in the chat box

Who it is for

  • Non-native English speakers who write emails and chat messages on a Mac and want them to sound natural.
  • Professionals at work who communicate in English through Slack, Gmail, Notion, or LinkedIn.
  • Multilingual people who chat with English-speaking contacts and want help translating and polishing their messages.

Pricing

Free forever, with a 7-day trial of all features and no card required. Pro is $1.99 for 30 days or $19.99 for a year, paid once in the app with no automatic renewal.

FAQ

Does it really work in every app?

Anywhere you can click into a text box: Slack, Gmail, Notion, WhatsApp, Telegram, Discord, LinkedIn, x, Figma, a browser field, a native app. It reads the box through the macOS accessibility layer, which is the same thing VoiceOver uses, so it does not care which app it is.

Do I need an account?

Not to try it. You can install and use it before signing in. An account exists so your plan and your memory follow you, and it is the only way we can tell a paying user from a script.

Is my typing sent anywhere?

The text you ask for a suggestion on is sent to the model, and a few recent messages are included as context so the tone matches the conversation. You can turn context off in settings, and then only the box you are in is sent. It is not sold, not profiled, and not used for training. The privacy page spells out the rest.

Will it flatten how I write?

That is what the two lines are for. The fix keeps your sentence and only removes the mistakes. The native rewrite is a suggestion you can take or leave, and with my style on it is written in your register, not a generic polite one.

What if I think in another language?

Write it in your own language. nonolingo reads Vietnamese, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Indonesian and more, and hands you back natural English. You can also dictate in your language and get English in the box.

Does it work on older Macs?

MacOS 14 Sonoma or later, on Apple silicon and on Intel. The DMG is a universal build, so the same download works on both.

Is the Mac app safe to open?

Yes. nonolingo is signed with our Apple Developer ID and notarized by Apple, which scans every release for malware. The first time you open it, macOS asks if you want to open an app downloaded from the internet: click Open. If you downloaded an older version and macOS says it can't verify the app, download it again from this page.

What happens after the trial?

You keep using it free, every day, forever. The count resets every day. Want more? Pro is $1.99 for 30 days or $19.99 for a year, and nothing renews by itself.
