About

VoicedByMe turns written words into speech that sounds like you. Read a short passage aloud once, and the app learns your voice right on your computer: no uploads, no account, no subscription. From then on, highlight text anywhere and press a shortcut to hear it, point it at something on your screen, or open a document and follow along as each sentence lights up. Whole books become chaptered audiobooks for your phone. Prefer someone else? Choose from 70 ready-made voices, from calm narrators to a Viking or a robot, or give scripts a different voice per character. It suits anyone who would rather listen than read: writers checking drafts, students reviewing notes, people with dyslexia or tired eyes. It works in English, Spanish and German.

FAQ

What do I need to run it?

Windows 10 or 11, or a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later), and about 2 GB of free space. On Windows, a graphics card from the last few years makes it fast enough to read live. Without one it still works, more slowly: fine for audio files, too slow for reading as you go. On a laptop, plug it in for the best speed.

Which apps do voice notes work in?

Apps where you can paste a file into the message box, like Slack, WhatsApp, Discord and Teams. Otherwise the clip is on your clipboard and in your history to share another way.

Which AI agents can speak?

Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Hermes Agent and the Claude app connect with one click. Any agent that supports MCP can use the speak tool, and any app can use the built-in, OpenAI-compatible speech API on your computer. More on giving Claude Code a voice.

How close does it sound to me?

It picks up your tone, pitch and accent from a single twenty-second recording, and stays consistent across long documents. A quiet room makes the biggest difference, and the app checks your recording before it clones it.

How do audiobooks work?

Open a book (EPUB, PDF, Word, Markdown or text) and choose Make audiobook. It finds the chapters, makes the audio in the background while you use your computer, and carries on if you close the app. You get one file with chapters for audiobook apps, or a file per chapter for any player. More on EPUB and PDF to audiobook.

Does it need the internet?

Once, to download its voice model (1.6 GB) after you install it. After that it works offline. It checks for updates, which you can switch off. More on offline text to speech.

Can I try it before I buy?

Yes: the whole app is free for one day, counted from when it's first ready to speak. Purchases aren't refundable, so please use the day to check it works well on your computer. When it's over, enter your license key and carry on, with your voices and library as you left them.

How much is it, and for how many computers?

$30 once for the first 50 customers, then $50. No subscription. A license is for one computer; moving to a new one is a click in Settings. Updates for version one are free.

Which languages?

It reads English, Spanish and German, and the app itself comes in all three, on Windows and on the Mac.
