About
Sophic is an intelligent knowledge base platform that connects to your team's tools like Slack, GitHub, and Linear to automatically capture, structure, and maintain documentation. It uses an AI Librarian agent to deduplicate, update, and keep your knowledge current as your company changes, then publishes that single source of truth across docs, help centers, chatbots, and search interfaces.
Competitors: Slite, Notion AI, GitBook, Confluence Cloud, Document360

FAQ
Is this a new database, or Postgres?
Postgres, unmodified. A fork is a copy-on-write snapshot of a real Postgres database, and the merge is a layer on top: it diffs schema and rows against the fork point and applies the result to the parent in one transaction. You keep the operational model you already have, backups, replicas, roles, and psql, and get fork and merge on top of it.
How is this different from database branching?
Branching gives you a copy. This gives you a copy and a way back. A fork knows the point it forked from, so a merge can tell which rows the fork changed, which rows the parent changed since, and where the two disagree. Conflicts come back as data the agent can resolve; everything else lands.
Can I run it myself?
That is the intent. The fork and merge engine is meant to run anywhere Postgres does; hosting it for you is what we charge for. Deployment options are still being worked out, so if self-hosting is a hard requirement, tell us now, while it is cheap to design around.
How early is this?
Early enough that the shape of the API can still change based on what you need from it. If you are building agents that have to write to a database, that is a good reason to talk to us now rather than after the interfaces set.
