FAQ
What is Tradehand?
Tradehand is a free way to find and book a local trade in the UK: electricians, plumbers, heating engineers, handymen and builders. You search your area, see who covers it, and get in touch direct.
What does it cost me?
Nothing. Searching and getting in touch are free. You pay the trade for the work, the same as you would if you had found them any other way.
Will my details go to lots of companies?
No. You contact one trade and it stays with them. Tradehand does not sell your details on.
How do I book?
Some trades let you pick a time there and then. With others you call or message first. Their page says which.
I run a trade business. What do I get?
You get found by people looking for your trade nearby. Free includes the manual tools for running your business and an assistant that answers your calls and messages, sends your quotes, books work into your diary and takes the payment, all in your own name. Paid plans add automation that chases quotes and invoices, more usage and lower card rates. Free includes the manual tools and the Assistant with £1 of usage a month: 5% of each payment Tradehand takes, card fees included. Paid plans from £25 a month add automation and more usage. Basic payment fees on your own jobs: From 1.25% + 20p, deducted automatically when the customer pays. Grow and Advanced have lower Tradehand payment fees.
Can I use Tradehand without a monthly fee?
Yes. Free is £0 a month with quotes, invoices, certificates, payments, your website, marketplace and installer programme jobs. You do the chasing yourself, with the Assistant and £1 of usage a month to help. Card and bank payments on your jobs cost 5%, card fees included. Existing customer membership renewals cost From 6.5% + 20p.
Which plan is right for me?
Free includes the Assistant and £1 of usage a month. Basic adds automation and more usage. Grow and Advanced give you more included usage and lower Tradehand fees on payments. Every plan includes unlimited team members.
What does the Assistant do?
The Assistant answers texts, emails and web chats in your business's name. Free includes £1 of usage a month. Paid plans add automation and more usage: following up quotes, booking the work, chasing invoices and finding new work on Nextdoor and with local businesses. Anything that needs your decision comes to you.
How does usage work?
Free includes £1 of usage a month and stops there; Basic includes £25, Grow £65 and Advanced £344. Every plan includes usage every month for calls, texts, WhatsApp messages you start and AI work. On paid plans extra usage is billed up to the monthly limit you set, starting at £50. Extras are charged each time they reach £10, then the remainder at month end. Amounts below £0.30 carry into the next usage bill. While a usage charge is unpaid or clearing, use stops at the included allowance. A trial stops at its included allowance.
Why do some cards cost more?
The fee depends on the payment method, so paid plans show a "from" rate: From 1.25% + 20p on Basic, From 1% + 20p on Grow and From 0.75% + 20p on Advanced. It is deducted automatically when the customer pays. Klarna on your own jobs is From 4.99% + 35p on every plan, with no Tradehand fee. Any agreed referral share remains payable.
