FAQ
Do I need my own OpenAI or Anthropic API key?
Yes — SyntaxCue is BYOK (bring your own key). You pay your LLM provider directly, at their cost, with no markup from us.
Does SyntaxCue record or store audio?
No. Audio is processed in memory, transcribed locally with whisper.cpp, and never written to disk or sent anywhere except your chosen LLM provider's API for generating an answer.
What's the refund policy?
14 days, no hoops — for technical issues or an accidental purchase.
Does the screen-share exclusion setting keep the hint window out of my screen share?
The setting keeps the hint window out of your own screen-share/recording stream — it's about your screen privacy, off by default, and always toggleable.
Does SyntaxCue work with Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams?
Yes. SyntaxCue listens to system audio, not any specific call platform's API, so it works the same regardless of which app the call is in — Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or others.
Is $79 the total cost?
No — $79 is the one-time price of the app. On top of it, you pay for your own AI usage directly to OpenAI or Anthropic, because SyntaxCue is bring-your-own-key. That usage is usage-based and typically a small fraction of a monthly subscription, but it's a separate, real cost. There is no recurring charge from SyntaxCue itself.
Is it really one-time, or does it renew?
It's a one-time payment, not a subscription — there's no auto-renewal and nothing billed to you again without action on your part. Your license is valid for 6 months from purchase, with unlimited use during that time (no packs, no per-interview metering). After the 6 months, the license stops validating; a new purchase is needed to keep using SyntaxCue past that point.
Can I try it before paying?
Yes. Download it and use your free hints (around 10-15) first — the free tier is metered by hint count, not by a calendar countdown, so it doesn't expire on you before you've had a chance to try it in a real session.
What if it doesn't work for me?
You have 14 days to get a full refund, with no hoops — we don't require proof of a defect or video evidence. If it's not for you, email us within 14 days.
How many devices can I use it on?
One purchase activates on 1 device. If you need to move it to a new machine, you can deactivate the device yourself from your account portal to free up the slot.
