Founder story

My mother was wrongfully arrested for my dog under a local law we couldn't find online. The arrest was real; the rule behind it was invisible to our family. I wanted to read the law behind the arrest. We couldn't find it online, and that became the reason I built Corpus: to help people find the law when they need it. We attempted to records request the laws but was denied with an extremely excessive $2000+ fee. I got around it by asking to inspect the records but it still took over 200 days to get the legal code that was promptly posted online to Corpus. The long term goal is to make all municipal and state law searchable, so a family in our position has somewhere to start.
