About
Drain repurposes your MacBook's notch into a single resource gauge showing what's running out in real time. Hover to inspect what each app consumes (battery drain per hour, memory kept vs. parked, storage, network speed, and Claude/Codex weekly limits), then stop it directly. The app displays human-readable names instead of process lists, catches hidden battery drains like paused videos keeping speakers on, and works on non-notch MacBooks via a menu bar ring.

FAQ
Why is battery drain in percent per hour instead of watts?
10 %/h reads as roughly ten hours of battery. Watts are one click away if you prefer them.
Where do the numbers come from?
From your Mac. Battery: per-process energy counters, the chip's energy counters and the power controller's sensors. Memory, storage and data: the same counters macOS keeps for its own tools. The screen, speakers and keyboard light are measured once with a short test that tells you exactly what it will do before it starts. Charging heat is learned each time you plug in or unplug, and the figures keep adjusting as you use your Mac.
Are the Claude and Codex figures live?
They are as of the last time each tool ran in a terminal, and the panel says how long ago that was. For Claude, Drain adds a small status line to Claude Code with your say-so; you can remove it in one click.
My MacBook has no notch. What do I get?
The same gauges and the same panels, from a ring icon in the menu bar. Only the labels beside the notch have no equivalent there.
What does the Data gauge count?
On ordinary Wi-Fi it shows signal strength. On a phone hotspot with a plan size set, it shows how much of the plan this Mac has used. It can't see what your phone itself uses.
Can it see my browsing?
Only while a browser keeps the speakers on, Drain looks at your open tabs for sites that usually cause it, like YouTube or X. Everything else is dropped right away and nothing is saved.
